    Please join us on the beautiful campus of James Madison University for one of our tour or visit options. Once on campus, you may stay for as long as you like on your visit day.

    Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

    Closed Sundays 
    and University holidays and during University break periods. 

    Office of Admissions Summer Hours (May 13, 2024 through August 9, 2024):
    Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Visit Options

    Self-Guided Visit: Explore campus on your own. Visitors will be provided with maps, guides and other materials to fully enjoy campus and to learn as much about JMU as possible. Visitors are encouraged to talk to students, faculty and staff during their visit to better understand the unique campus culture of James Madison University.

    Information Session and Tour:
     Enjoy a half-hour in-person admissions information session and an hour-and-a-half student-led campus tour. The information session and the tour groups will include multiple registrants and their guests. This tour will be conducted on the western portion of the JMU campus and will include academic buildings, a model residence hall room, the Union and the Quad as well as other stops. The Quad is the location of the most historic buildings on campus, as well as residence halls and administrative buildings.


    Information Session and Tour - East Campus: Enjoy a half-hour information session followed by an hour-and-a-half student-led campus tour. The information session and the tour groups will include multiple registrants and their guests.  This tour will be conducted on the eastern portion of the JMU campus and will include academic buildings, Rose Library, a model residence hall room, the Festival Conference and Student Center, the E-Hall Dining Hall, as well as other stops.  East campus is home to the College of Integrated Science and Engineering as well as the College of Science and Math, and includes residence halls, student activities space, the Rose Library and many of the newest buildings on the JMU campus.

    Twilight Information Session and Tour - Join us for a half-hour in-person admissions information session and a two hour student-led tour. The information session and the tour groups will include multiple registrants and their guests.  This tour will be conducted mostly on the western portion of the JMU campus and will include academic buildings, a model residence hall room, the Union and the Quad as well as other stops.  The Quad is the location of the most historic buildings on campus, as well as residence halls and administrative buildings.

    WEATHER PERMITTING, the tour will end outside of King Hall, which overlooks the main portions of the campus, and provides unobstructed views to the west of campus, including the Appalachian mountain range for beautiful sunset views.  This is one of our students favorite views! ADVISORY STATEMENT: This tour can be more physically strenuous than our traditional tour, as the route is longer, and includes crossing from one side of Interstate 81 to the other and back and is more hilly than our traditional tour.  Caution is encouraged if guests are unsure of their ability to complete the tour.
