About JMU

Please join us on the beautiful campus of James Madison University for one of our tour or visit options. Once on campus, you may stay for as long as you like on your visit day.

Daily events are published and available for registration through May 16, 2026 for all visit options.

Office of Admissions School Year Hours: (through May 16, 2026)
Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Closed Sundays, University holidays and during University break periods.

Self-Guided Visit: You may arrive any time between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Explore campus on your own! Visitors will be provided with maps, guides and other materials to fully enjoy campus and to learn as much about JMU as possible. Visitors are encouraged to talk to students, faculty and staff during their visit to better understand the unique campus culture of James Madison University.

Information Session and Tour: Join us for a 30 minute admissions information session and an hour-and-a-half student-led walking tour. This tour will focus on the western portion of the JMU campus and will include academic buildings, a model residence hall room, the Student Success Center, the Union, the Quad and other stops as well. You are encouraged to visit other portions of campus that may interest you after your tour; maps and directions are provided as part of the visit.

Spring Open House (March 27, 2026): Looking for more than a standard campus visit? The Spring Open House includes an admissions information session, campus tour, a session from the academic college of your choice and a resource fair with representatives from academic departments, resource offices, and student organizations. You can also purchase lunch at any of our campus dining locations.
The day will start at 9 am and last until 3 pm. 
This event is for high school juniors, sophomores and freshmen starting their college search.
